The Most Fundamental of all Flying Skills
There is no flying skill more fundamental. If this skill is mastered, flying becomes straightforward. Until this skill is mastered, flying is not only overwhelming and daunting, is it always imprecise, inconsistent and down right sloppy. The skill is being situationally aware, taking charge and making the aircraft do exactly what the pilot wants.
